New Art Dolls

This is something that I've been working on for awhile now, my new gallery blog. It's called Thingmaker Studio & it's a catalog of all of my work that is for sale.
I was going to wait until I had all of my work posted before announcing it, but I now realize that I make art way faster than I post, so it is what it is, a work in progress! If you're interested in purchasing my work, please check it out, it lists the size, price & materials used.

Rusty stuff and one really cool mask

Wow, it does not take much at all to make me happy!
I received this wonderful box of rusty stuff from my friend Kathy- she sure knows how to cheer a girl up! Check out the little rusty arrows- & the rusty "o's"...yum!
Thanks Kathy!
After opening your box of goodies, I was inspired to stop at a yard sale where I found this amazing mask.

Journal Pages

I usually don't post pictures of my journal pages, mainly b/c there is often writing scrawled everywhere that I don't want out there for the world to see. But lately I've been doing my writing elsewhere, so I suppose it's safe just to post the art.

Links for inspiration

I try to refrain from constantly posting links on my blog & focus on more content & pictures, but the following links really should not be missed.
First, is a guy that I found on Karen Cole's blog- his name is Barron Storey, & his work is absolutely amazing. You all may already know of him, but I am just discovering his work & am really blown away. His site is a bit difficult to navigate, you might want to google him for more info.
The next site I found on Seth's blog, the Altered page (I love his blog too!) It takes a few to load, but totally worth the wait. It is called Soytuaire, (no clue what that means) check it out, you'll love it!
And finally, awhile back, Kimberly Moore interviewed me for her zine & I just received my copy in the mail. It's really fun, if you want to get a copy, you can order it
here. Thanks Kimberly!
I've been working on a bunch of new dolls, I'll post pictures as soon as it stops raining long enough for me to photograph them.

The Black Hole

Oh no, I just found out that Ed died- the owner of The Black Hole, a weird, wonderful, quirky junk/salvage/ you-name-it store up in Los Alamos. Actually, he died months ago, but I just learned about it.
I was
only there once & always meant to go back, what an amazing place- & the stories, wow, this guy lived!
I remember finding this box of awesome tiny light bulbs. Nothing was priced, so you had tho hunt him down to to ask the price, & just to find Ed in this weird maze of stuff was quite the ordeal. When I finally found him & asked the price of the light bulbs, he looked at me long & hard & finally said "Aw just put 'em back, you can't afford them!" At the time I was pissed off & insulted, (I REALLY wanted those light bulbs!) now I find it very funny, & a great memory.

Bye Ed, hope you're somewhere in a rusty junk paradise!

Traveling Heart Project

Someone gave me these cool little metal hearts awhile back & I just recently re-discovered them.
So I decided to put together a collaborative project using these hearts to build around.
We will be doing our first mailing on July first, I just set up a blog so that you can see what we are up to-go HERE to watch our progress!

Urban Exploration

One of my favorite things to do is to find old abandoned buildings to explore & photograph.
It never once occurred to me that there are OTHERS out there like me, I have one or 2 friends that will come with me, but it turns out that there is a whole group out there that meets up & does this on a regular basis! I feel SO dumb for not knowing this!
I feel like I found my tribe, I'm so happy to know this!
These were taken at the old railyard, apparently the new terminator movie was shot here.

Nother Plug

This is the work of my dear friend Pat Chapman- go here to see all of her work.  She is the most talented artist that I know & has the sickest, most twisted sense of humor of anyone that I've ever met.  My living room is filled with her work, just can't seem to get enough of it!

Anyway, she now has a blog- she had a blog, but now she has a new one- check it out here, she's really an amazing woman!
